Your logbook belongs to you. Even we cannot read it.
No required account, no trackers, no resale. Everything is encrypted on your phone, and the online backup leaves encrypted, with a key only you hold.

In shortYour logbook is encrypted on the phone, with keys kept in its secure vault. The online backup is encrypted before it leaves, and the server cannot read it. The account is optional and only gives it your email address.
What stays on your phone
- Your whole logbook: vehicles, services, fill-ups, photos, invoices and documents, encrypted and readable offline
- Nothing identifying leaves: not the number plate, the VIN, your name or your documents
- No targeted ads, no analytics, no crash report sent without you
Change phones without losing anything
- Online: an encrypted copy is sent automatically. On the new phone, your account or your recovery code and everything comes back
- As a file: a file protected by your password, to keep wherever you like. Free, forever
What is the account for?
To get your logbook back with an email address and a password, rather than with a code to keep safe. Created during the beta, it keeps sync free for life. Nothing in the app depends on it.
- Your password never leaves the phone: the server only keeps a fingerprint of it
- Emails: a 6-digit code when you sign up or forget your password. Never any marketing
- Deletion in one tap in the app
All the details, in writing
Everything that leaves the phone, when and why, is written down in the privacy policy.

What if I lose or change my phone?
Turn on the online backup: an encrypted copy of your logbook is sent at most once a day, and a recovery code is shown to you once. On the new phone, enter that code and everything comes back, or sign in with your account if you created one. Without the code or the account, nobody can decrypt the backup.
What is the Pistonbook account for?
To change phones without losing anything: your email address and password are enough to get your logbook back, with no recovery code. Created during the beta, it keeps sync free for life. It is created from the app's Account tab.
Where is the server hosted?
In France, by the developer. It queries public vehicle databases itself, logs no requests and only keeps your IP address in memory, for one minute, to limit the number of requests.
