Running costs
How do I work out my car's cost per mile?
Divide everything you spent over a period (fuel, insurance, servicing, tolls, parking) by the miles driven over the same period. Pistonbook does it for you from your entries, all costs included and for energy alone.
How do I measure my real fuel economy?
Fill the tank, note the mileage, then at the next full tank divide the miles driven by the fuel added. Pistonbook applies this method automatically, in mpg or L/100 km, and handles partial fills between two full ones.
Do services count in the budget?
Yes. The price of a service or an upgrade goes into the budget without typing it twice. The purchase price of the vehicle only counts if you ask.
What about electric cars?
They are fully supported: charges with their type and connector, consumption in kWh and electric cost per mile. Consumption measured at the plug includes charging losses, so it is often a little higher than what the car shows.
